Jean-René Auvray, or JR as he’s known, comes from a solid racing background; both his grandfather and his father were successful trainers in France.
After training 40 winners under both codes in the UK and France he decided to take a break from training after the financial crash of 2009. Now he has been bitten by the bug again and has set up a yard amongst the chalk downs near Calne in Wiltshire.
A true horseman, JR is able to offer each horse an individual training programme.
With access to over 1000 acres of farmland which offers numerous options of gallops and hacking, horses get race fit without even realising it; ideal for those that have fallen out of love with racing, or those who are temperamentally unsuited to the buzz of a large training yard.
Ably supported by his wife Alison and assistant Nigel Kelly, Jean-René Auvray Racing prides itself on providing a relaxed and fun environment, where owners, however big or small, are welcome at any time and can be truly involved in the yard.
